While born in Pheonix, Arizona, Tyler Boldt’s family moved to Concord, California pretty soon there after. With a passion and clear talent for wrestling, after high school Tyler enrolled at Santa Rosa Junior College on an athletic scholarship. Unfortunately in his first year, he suffered a severe rotator cuff injury that halted his ability to wrestle, and dually came with the loss of his scholarship. Looking for his next move, his step-dad invited him to move up to Central Oregon and join him as a carpenter at Life Design Build, and further inspired by his grandfather who also lived in Oregon, with a dreamy nature-filled life, Tyler accepted the offer to move a way from the Bay Area and start his next chapter. As Tyler says, his grandfather’s life on his 10-acre property in rural southwestern Oregon epitomized his dreams of what a future life might look like - spending days rafting, fishing, and building random things on the property - “freedom”, Tyler says.

While learning to build homes and being a carpenter-in-training fits well with Tyler’s goals, and provides opportunities for a “lifestyle that’s highly attractive”, he still hasn’t lost his drive and love for wrestling. As he told us, “I still dream of wrestling in the Olympics one day”.

In the meantime, Tyler enjoys his other passions, including reading, and getting immersed in nature. On his horizon he’s excited to learn to play golf and the guitar, and with his enthusiasm for cars, he hopes to build his own track race car before too long.
