Kate Jensen was born in Aspen, Colorado, a child of the Roaring Fork Valley. With a younger brother at her side, they grew up in the heart of the Rockies with an interior designer mom and developer dad, building spec homes in the valley. After high school Kate migrated to Boulder to attend the University of Colorado, where she majored in history and philosophy. On the path of discovery, after graduation she ventured east to New York City, where she spent an adventurous year living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. There, exposed to the creative energy of the city, but also frustrated by the job opportunities available to her, she recognize her innate passions and talents and headed back to the Front Range to study architecture at Colorado University in Denver. While gaining her masters degree, during the summers Kate started working at CCY Architects in Basalt, Colorado gaining exposure to truly on-of-a-kind luxury custom homes. While there, she also met her future husband, Dan… also an architect.

In 2018, Kate and Dan made their next big life move and headed west, to Portland, Oregon, chasing a dream job with Anacapa Architecture, a residential-focused design firm who’s work she long admired. While dreamy, Kate felt stranded from the Santa Barbara based HQ, and ultimately decided to make the shift to Skylab Architecture. And while they liked Portland, she and Dan knew that Portland ultimately wasn’t going to be their long-term home… the mountains called again.

In 2025, to the benefit of Life Design Build and Life Architecture + Planning, Kate and Dan made the decision to relocate to Bend, Oregon. Captivated by the mountains, but also charmed by the town, Bend felt like a place they could lay down some roots with their family.

Two kids, two dogs (lhaso apso and a wire-haired pointing grefan). Mountain bike, ski, haven’t camped in years, but looking forward to getting back into it. Came with the Colorado gear prepared. On the side used to dabble in block printing, and sowing. Been to 6 of the seven continents and summitted Mount Kilimanjaro, trekked through the Andes. Would 100% go back to Peru and would love to explore more of South America.
