Sr. Architect/Design Leader

Estimated Annual Compensation: $100-130K

Based on base compensation plus profit sharing. Range based on skills and experience.

Job Description:

Life Design Build (and Life Architecture & Planning) is seeking a full-time, talented, and highly organized Sr. Architect/Design Leader, to contribute and support both our residential custom home and remodel architectural and construction operations. And, eventually help support our expansion towards more commercial work.

As a Senior Architect you will:

  • Own and lead development of design, client communication, and support construction throughout all phases of the design/build process.

  • Work independently and collaboratively with entire team, including company management, peers, support staff, and subcontractors.

  • Key design specific tasks: Lead conceptual design and ideation, develop design drawings, digital models and construction documents, and oversee construction administration.

  • Key construction specific tasks: Support construction cost estimating, material take-offs, support material and product ordering, and conduct site visits.

  • Actively seek out new responsibilities, challenges, and leadership.

  • Advocate for an inclusive, supportive work culture through listening, learning and actions.

Location: Bend, Oregon (in office and jobs sites). Not a remote position.

Qualifications:

  • OR architecture license: Bachelor degree or higher in Architecture.

  • Minimum 10+ years of work experience in the profession.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, and Adobe Creative Suite, with 3D modeling and project documentation.

  • Proficient with spreadsheets.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Google Documents.

  • Highly motivated and organized.

  • Passion for design and construction.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to work with a wide-ranging diversity of team members.

  • Ability to visit job sites weekly throughout Central Oregon as needed.

Sr. Framing Carpenter

Estimated Compensation: $80-100K

Based on base compensation plus profit sharing. Range based on skills and experience.

Job Description:

Life Design Build is seeking a full-time, talented, and highly organized Sr. Carpenter with significant framing experience/expertise to be a core member of our residential construction operations.

As a Sr. Carpenter or Lead Carpenter, you will:

  • Work collaboratively with each project’s lead Architect, Project Manager and the Home Owner(s).

  • Be comfortable in either a #2 or #1 position on the in-field crew.

  • Be an on-site leader - delegating, organizing and managing your fellow team members of Carpenters and General Laborers to advance the construction of the project.

  • Collaborate with Project Manager/Coordinators to order materials, manage schedule and coordinate with subcontractors.

  • Actively seek out new responsibilities and challenges.

  • Advocate for an inclusive, supportive work culture through listening, learning and actions.

  • Advocate and be a leader for a safe and secure work environment.

  • Be a leader in the advancement of the project throughout all phases of the construction process, but primarily with a framing focus. Tasks/phases of construction may include:

    • Misc. site work

    • Foundation concrete work and stormwater drainage

    • Framing/General carpentry

    • House wrap and weatherproofing/sealing

    • Exterior door and window install

    • Exterior siding and trim

    • Hang interior doors

    • Finish carpentry and trim

    • Casework installation

Qualifications:

  • 5-15 years of work experience in residential construction as a carpenter.

  • Experience leading teams of other carpenters and general laborers.

  • Passion for construction, carpentry and craftsmanship.

  • Expertise in residential building best practices and methodologies.

  • Highly motivated and organized.

  • Strong verbal communications skills.

  • Team player, able to work with a wide-ranging diversity of team members.

  • Ability to be on job sites throughout Central Oregon, Monday thru Friday, roughly 7:30am – 4pm
