Mountain Modern Custom Home
SE Washington.
The north slope of Klickitat County’s Stacker Butte in SE Washington is a very special place. This rural and remote region of Washington state is dominated by the northern views of Mount Adams’ heavily glaciated slopes.
After a decade of camping on the site, our clients knew Stacker Butte’s north slope would be the perfect location for a rural and modest second home, eventually crafting a compact 1,000 square foot modern mountain retreat with additional 1-car garage. While only a simple two volume structure, the home’s two forms strategically orient themselves to embrace the panoramic views the north, create a wind-protected courtyard, and capture the sun’s solar energy to the south for net-zero energy consumption.
“The home embraces the calm simplicity of its surroundings with stunning views of Mt. Adams and tranquil gathering spaces protected from the site’s harsh winds.”
