Shadric Dowden was born in Clackamas, Oregon, but from a very early age he was globe-trotting around the world. The son of a dad who built embassies, industrial facilities, and more around the world, Shadric grew up with a unique global perspective, living in countries such as Bolivia, Singapore, Kenya, Uzbekistan, Jamaica, and the Cayman Island.
Eventually Shadric would land back in the states where he pursued an international and general studies degree at University of Denver and Portland State University.
Ironically, with a sensitivity to dust and particulates (old-school eye contacts), he fell into carpentry “kicking and screaming”, going to job sites with his dad and helping the family with rental properties (turning, flipping, and remodeling). The early carpentry/real estate experience landed him a job with a tiny house building company in Portland where his passion for the craft blossomed. He really enjoyed the people he was working with and he loved seeing projects go from beginning to end, and the sense of accomplishment that comes with that. Later, he would co-found Barn Owl Construction with Life Design Build alumni, Slade Auel.
In his free time, you’ll most often find Shadric reading, when he’s not doing side jobs. He’s currently focused on remodeling his new home in Bend, Oregon.
